PRESS RELEASE

MINI CAMP AND OPEN TRYOUT DATES RELEASED

Shelton, Connecticut

BAD, the official training facility for the Giants, will host this

Season’s Mini-camp and open tryout

The march towards the 2009 season has at least been set on the calendar for both current and future Connecticut Giants players.

The Connecticut Giants will offer their annual Mini Camp at BAD (Better Athletic Development) at 33 Hull Street in Shelton. This camp starts on April 1st and will continue for the next three consecutive Wednesdays at 7:15pm. The camp is free of charge to all registered players. Speed and Conditioning coach Kevin Gendron prepares all current and potential roster players for their tryout dates. “I combine speed and strength training for the guys. I also include some conditioning work that will get them ready for the upcoming season” said Gendron, “outside of the mini camp, a lot of players set up individual programs at the facility to give themselves an advantage on their competition.”

Open tryouts for rookie players looking to make the team will be held on Saturday April 25th at the BAD facility at 10am. There is a $50 early registration fee, $60 the day of the event. All players must wear shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers; no cleats. Players will be tested in the following movements:

·        40 yard dash (10 yard dash for offensive linemen)

·        225 bench (optional for quarterbacks and receivers)

·        Vertical jump

·        3 cone drill

“As pleased as we are with this season, we are really looking forward to 2009 and bringing in some top talent” said General Manager Bernie Armstrong, “I have received a lot of calls from people interested in trying out this season; the combination of the Giants success in the highly competitive NAFL and rumors of the area Arena football franchises folding, we expect at least 40 legitimate players trying out on April 25th.

For more information about mini camp and open tryouts contact Coach Kevin Gendron at 203-924-2230 or Bernie Armstrong at berniejarmstrong@netscape.net
